Systems
The subsequent upgrading of ventilation ducts is an elementary component of modern building technology. Above all, cladding with systems from Promat has established itself over the years. Here, sheet steel or polypropylene ventilation ducts are doubled using calcium silicate panels. The low material thicknesses of 35mm to 50mm enable space-saving and efficient assembly.

For electrical cables, there are certain systems and installations that must remain operational in the event of a fire. The Model Pipe Systems Directive provides information on which systems are affected. These include alarm and fire detection systems, emergency lighting, smoke and heat extraction, fire extinguishing water supply and elevator systems.
Through special claddings and channels with fire protection boards, this requirement is ensured. In this case, the cables themselves no longer require fire-tested cable fixings. With constructions from Promat in fire resistance classes E 60 and E 90, the temperature of the cables generally remains below 150 °C during the classification period.
These cable channels protect cables and wiring from external fire exposure. This is important to ensure that electrical systems remain functional in the event of a fire. Channel widths of up to 1000 mm are possible.
If combustible electrical installations run through escape routes or rooms with increased fire risk, the associated installation channels must provide a fire resistance duration from the inside.
For this purpose, we install single- and double-sided claddings, which are particularly used in refurbishment and renovation projects, as well as four-sided channels for both horizontal and vertical cable routing.
Optionally, cable trays can be installed with or without cable racks, and in the case of four-sided designs, also with a removable cover.
Fire resistance class
If requirements for a fire resistance class apply, steel sheet ventilation ducts are not sufficient. They deform under high heat exposure, allowing fire and smoke to spread. In some air-guiding ducts, particularly combustible substances can accumulate. This is the case, for example, in exhaust air systems of commercial kitchens.
Some air-guiding ducts may even be combustible themselves, such as plastic ventilation ducts used for laboratory exhaust systems. In such cases, special fire protection requirements apply. We are happy to advise you on the prescribed cladding of ventilation ducts.
Labelling
Every duct for electrical cables must be permanently labelled with a sign. For this purpose, a Europe-wide harmonized identification system is used.
Naturally, we carry out this labelling professionally after completion of the installation.
